American DRAGCAR  HeadLines

DRAGCAR Set's a Record!

AmericanDRAGCAR  had the most phenomenal first pairing in it's first competition round
of the first season at the first ever
USDRAGCAR.com Full Power Challenge
inaugural event back in November of 2011 when the two cars
crossed the finish line with only 5 ten thousandths of a second between them.

But now, in only our second season, that record has already been beaten!

Dan Olszewski (far lane) clipped Don Phelps in his first round of competition
by a mere one ten-thousandth of a second
for the closest ever round of competition to date,
and its only our second season!

Daniel Olszewski in his purple '75 Camaro put a nice hole-shot on Donald Phelps who ran under index in his '72 Firebird to make his bid for the finish line. Dan's efforts scored him the well deserved win as he clipped Don by a mere one ten thousandth of a second literally in the last inch of the track as he marched on through the field into the final round of his first ever USDRAGCAR.com Full Power Challenge.

This becomes the closest finish in DRAGCAR  competition history and it's only our second season. If the close competition of the first season and a half are any indication, AmericanDRAGCAR  will become known for producing some of the closest finishes of all out drag racing competition on a regular basis. Remember, they're not lifting to make it close, these racers are really DRAG RACING!

DRAGCAR Gets Confirmation!

AmericanDRAGCAR  has gotten the official confirmation that the 2013 Full Power Challenge season will get to finish out at SIR Dragway in Tucson, Arizona. This will complete a 7 race season schedule and we are very happy to have this opportunity to be hosted at such a fine facility. Hopes are high that we will be able to continue on at SIR with the 2014 season schedule as well by having at least half of the season races hosted at this facility. Intentions are to be able to schedule at least 8 season series races for the '14 season.

DRAGCAR Makes it to Tucson!

AmericanDRAGCAR  introduced Southern Arizona to the DRAGCAR  brand of all out Sportsman level drag racing on May 10th, 2013 at Tucson, Arizona's Southwestern International Raceway.

SIR Dragway gave a nice warm welcome to DRAGCAR  and provided an excellent facility with which to run our program. As it turns out, even one of the SIR tech crew was already familiar with AmericanDRAGCAR  and it's program since he was one of the original 15 members to have made the trek up to the Phoenix area's Speedworld Dragstrip in 2011 for the first ever free entry Full Power Challenge Provisional.

SIR Dragway is a first class facility of which photos do not do justice. The personnel are outstandingly polite, considerate, and incredibly accommodating. When in the tower to go over the DRAGCAR  program with the timing and computer operator. I was quite astounded to find that he had actually went to the AmericanDRAGCAR  website prior to this weekend and printed many of the pages which I was bringing to him to to explain how the program works. And he was also able to re-set the timing system's setting to accommodate the DragSport Eliminator  adjusted index format as well so that we were not required to compensate the adjusted indexes.

The track itself is also quite luxurious, with a very well manicured burnout box which eliminates tire splash into the fender-wells and excessive water tracking past the burnout area. A nicely cared for starting line which gave plenty of grip for the entire evening, and a very smooth racing surface that had my own 2800 pound ride feeling as comfortable as a Lincoln down the entire 1320'. The shut-down area is the longest of the Arizona facilities which I could actually compare to OCIR's, and an on duty traffic control director to give racers in the far lane a heads up as to whether or not the turnoff could be executed safely or not in relation to the trailing racer. The return road was even an enjoyable experience being straight and smooth which allows for minimal engine heat issues after the run when not shutting down to cool.

The pits are entirely paved with enough room for probably 150 cars before having to use the graveled auxiliary pit areas. The scale is nicely located with no harsh height transitions which makes for quick and easy weight checks after each round.

I can easily come to forget about the 3100' elevation and 150 mile travel distance with pleasantries such as these. And soon to come will be upgraded restroom facilities complete with on-site showers. Now that's luxury!

        Let's go racing DRAGCAR !

Guaranteed Payouts!

AmericanDRAGCAR  introduced it's Guaranteed Payout program at the January 12th, 2013 season opener as a single race trial along with the Multi Level Entry Fee/Progressive Payout system.

This program guarantees minimum winner's purses for races in which the total entrant count falls below 33 cars and guarantees race winners ten times their chosen entry fee and will now become implemented into all DRAGCAR  venues.

The Guaranteed Payout structures can be viewed on the Purse page of this website.

Speedworld DragStrip
and
Firebird International Raceway
Closed in 2013!

Both of AmericanDRAGCAR 's hometown tracks will close in the earlier part of 2013 which accounts for the season finals being run so early in the year.

While there is speculation that FIR will be re-opened under new management, there are no definitive statements being made as to such, and all expectations are that the Valley area will in fact be without drag racing facilities for the remainder of 2013 and probably on through 2014. After that, there is no telling. All we can do is hope for something good in the nearest possible future.

Progressive Payouts!

AmericanDRAGCAR  introduced yet another revolutionary concept in drag racing for the 2013 season, the Multi Level Entry Fee/Progressive Payout system!

Very simply, DRAGCAR  members choose their own race entry fee at each race which in turn determines the amount of winning they will be rewarded. The percentages are the same at each level. No matter the level of race entry chosen, round pay and winner pay is based on race fee. DragStar/DragCar/DragBar Eliminator  first round winners will earn double their race fee while DragSport Eliminator  third round winners also earn double their race fee. View the Purse page under the Race Format link from the Home page to see the fully detailed payout structures.

2012 Introduced DRAGCAR!

AmericanDRAGCAR  debuted November 20th 2011 at Speedworld Dragstrip outside of Phoenix, Arizona and is destined to become the definitive drag racing organization worldwide.

The 2011 race was touted as a Provisional for the express intent of testing the program and the varying concepts of AmericanDRAGCAR, and the next four races of the 2012 season were also merely intended to test and tune the program to the point that a 2013 season could be confidently launched without any "bugs" in the system.

Thirty one Arizona racers joined AmericanDRAGCAR  in the first 11 months of the guild's existence and will go into history as the first to be a part of the drag racing revolution of the 21st century. The program and it's understandings are still alien to a great many but as it becomes more recognized and understood by the rest of the drag racing contingent, racers and manufacturers alike will make the move to become a part of the American Drag Racers' Affiliated Guild of Competition Acceleration Recreation and propel AmericanDRAGCAR  and real sportsman level drag racing headlong together into the world.

Denver, Colorado drag racing transplant Larry Bierbaum became the first ever AmericanDRAGCAR DRAGSTAR  by winning the 2012 DragSport  season points series championship while Ron Shelly, a long time drag racing native of the Phoenix area, captured the Runner-Up spot. This is quite fitting as these two are of the truest race natured drag racers to have joined and competed in AmericanDRAGCAR. Bill Matchette is another fine example of a race hearted drag racer and he rounded out the 2012 top three. Nick Micale took honors as the Sportsman of the Year by the single act of showing his true race nature at the November 2011 Provisional.

AmericanDRAGCAR  also thanks the 2011/2012 race and season sponsors:
